East Gippsland residents are invited to attend a free community information session designed to increase awareness and understanding of Palliative Care and Advanced Care Directives.
The session will be held on Wednesday, 24 June at 9:30am at The Centre Combined Health, 5 Radford Place, Bairnsdale, and is open to all community members.
Guest speaker Ray Dale from Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) will provide valuable information about what Palliative Care involves, the role it plays in supporting individuals and families, and the practical steps involved in advanced care planning.
Mr Dale will also explain how Advanced Care Directives can help people communicate their wishes for future healthcare, ensuring informed decisions can be made if they are ever unable to speak for themselves.
The session aims to encourage open conversations around future care planning and help community members better understand the options and support available to them. The event will also feature a short wellness and focus session presented by Carolyn Donchi, providing attendees with practical strategies to support their wellbeing.
With an ageing population and increasing recognition of the importance of planning ahead, this session offers an important opportunity for residents to gain knowledge, ask questions and access reliable information in a supportive environment.
Attendance is free, and all members of the East Gippsland community are welcome. Light morning tea will be provided.
